Receiving treatment at Purley Elective Centre

Purley Elective Centre is based within the Community Outpatients building at Purley War Memorial Hospital and has been created to help us treat you following the COVID-19 pandemic. The provides a safe place, where you can go to have a minor procedure, without the need to self-isolate.

What are we doing to protect you?

Although you will not have to self-isolate before your procedure date, we ask that you:

  • Inform us if you have any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Wash your hands regularly or use hand sanitiser on your visit.
  • Wear a face covering while at hospital, you will be permitted to remove this during your procedure.

We are putting in a number of measures to protect you during your visit. These include:

  • Following strict infection prevention protocols and social distancing guidance.
  • Deep cleaning our treatment rooms even more often.
  • Keeping our staff safe by providing them with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

What do you need to do before your treatment?

You do not need to self-isolate or take a COVID-19 test before coming to hospital for your minor procedure. We do ask however, that you notify us as soon as possible by contacting the admissions team on the telephone number on your appointment letter if you or any member of your household begins to display symptoms of COVID-19, or test positive for COVID-19. This will enable us to offer your date to someone else.

What is your risk of getting COVID-19 while in hospital?

It is currently not possible to eliminate the risk of catching COVID-19 while you are in hospital. However, we are taking every possible measure to minimise your risk of infection. Your journey to and from hospital and your time in hospital may increase your chance of contracting the virus. We are taking actions to help reduce the risk as much as possible. Please remember to ask our clinical team if you are unsure, and we encourage you to write down any questions you may have and bring them to your appointment.
