Ten Christmas deliveries (and counting..!) for Croydon's maternity unit

While families across the borough woke up to some unexpected deliveries from Santa, Croydon’s newest parents made room for their own deliveries this Christmas (Wednesday 25 December).

The ten new arrivals - six baby boys and four baby girls, who were delivered by some of the incredible midwives working across the Trust on Christmas Day, are the latest to join almost 3,600 babies delivered by Croydon’s maternity teams each year.

Our first arrival of the day was baby Haiah, who was born at 12:20am this morning to delighted parents Mustafa and Iqbar.

The family, alongside other new parents who spent their day in the maternity unit, were presented with festive gifts to celebrate the occasion.

Manjit Roseghini, Director of Midwifery at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust said:

“Welcoming a new baby into the world and into our extended Croydon family, is exciting at any time of year, but on Christmas Day we like to think it’s extra special.

“We’ve been celebrating with our new parents throughout the day and delivering some gifts to our Mums, as well as helping to bring them the best present of all – a little bundle of joy.”

With award-winning midwives and state of the art facilities, women who choose to have their baby with Croydon Health Services NHS Trust are given expert advice and support throughout their maternity journey. We’re with you all the way, from discovery to birth and beyond
