At Croydon Health Services, we know how much a nurse or midwife can mean to patients and their loved ones.

Whether it was a reassuring conversation, support during a difficult time, exceptional clinical care, or a simple act of kindness, our nursing and midwifery colleagues make a difference every day.

The DAISY Award gives patients, families, carers and colleagues the opportunity to recognise and thank nurses and midwives who have gone above and beyond.

 

What is the DAISY Award?

The DAISY Award is an international recognition programme that celebrates nurses and midwives who provide outstanding care, compassion and support.

The programme was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from complications of an autoimmune disease at the age of 33. During Patrick's illness, his family experienced first-hand the skill, dedication and kindness of the nurses who cared for him.

Following his death, they created the DAISY Foundation as a way of recognising the extraordinary difference nurses make to patients and families. DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.

Today, the DAISY Award is recognised around the world, with thousands of healthcare organisations taking part to celebrate exceptional nursing and midwifery care.

 

Who can be nominated?

Any registered nurse or midwife working at Croydon Health Services can be nominated for a DAISY Award.

You might choose to nominate someone who has:

• Shown exceptional compassion and kindness
• Gone above and beyond to support a patient or family
• Made a difficult experience easier through their care and understanding
• Demonstrated outstanding professionalism
• Made a lasting difference to your healthcare experience

Who can submit a nomination?

Nominations can be made by:

• Patients
• Family members
• Carers
• Friends
• Colleagues
• Members of the public
