NHS Big Tea Media Release

MEDIA RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE USE: 1 July 2021

Join a national outpouring of love to raise money for your local NHS heroes

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust Charitable Fund is urging people in Croydon to join the nation’s biggest tea break in July and help raise money for the incredible people in our local NHS who’ve done so much to help everyone get through the pandemic.

Following a year like no other, the dedicated charity supporting Croydon Health Services NHS Trust wants as many people as possible to get involved in a national outpouring of love and thanks for NHS staff and volunteers in its birthday week by hosting or taking part in an NHS Big Tea between Monday 5 July and Friday 9 July.

The NHS will officially turn 73 on Monday 5 July.

Each event can be in person or virtual, with the community, friends, family or at work, and is a chance to reflect and say thank you for everything that NHS staff and volunteers have done and continue to do, by taking part in the nation’s biggest tea break to raise money for Croydon Health Services NHS Trust Charitable Fund.

Thanks to the support and generosity of the public over the last year, NHS Charities have been able to be there for NHS staff, to ensure they can continue with their vital life-saving work, whether through funding counselling and mental health support, or help with practical needs, like food, drink and a place to rest.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust Charitable Fund has recently used donations to fund refurbished rest areas for staff to take a moment of reflection, counselling services and community initiatives to support long term recovery among local residents.

Matthew Kershaw, Trust Chief Executive and Place Based Leader for Health, said:

“Croydon’s communities have really rallied behind one another and the NHS throughout the pandemic. We would love local hosts to get behind this event and put Croydon on the NHS Big Tea map!”
