Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2021

This week is National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) 2021 and this year’s theme is ‘Build the Future: train, retain, achieve. Here at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust (CHS) we are proud to be taking part by celebrating our apprentices and acknowledging the value and opportunities apprenticeships bring to the Trust.

At CHS we’re dedicated to investing in apprentices, helping them to achieve their professional qualifications as they build their career with us. We currently have over 50 staff members undertaking professional apprenticeships.

We’re supporting staff with certified training in Cyber Security Technologist, Installation Electrician, and Nursing Associates roles. Since November 2020, we have enrolled 17 members of staff as Pharmacy Services Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and senior leaders on to Master Degrees Apprenticeships.

During NAW, we will share the positive impact apprentices have made, and continue to make. We’ll hear from our apprentices, past and present, about their personal experiences. Remember apprenticeships roles aren’t just for those new to their careers, established CHS employees can join up to higher level apprenticeship programmes. Apprenticeships are also available to colleagues at all levels.

Managers will share how they developed roles specifically for apprentices and how they have worked differently to support new and current colleagues complete their studies and apply their learning back to the workplace.

Build the future: virtual event
In addition to hearing from our CHS apprentices and managers, we have teamed up with Croydon College to organise a virtual apprenticeship event taking place on Thursday 11 February. There will be two sessions, from 10am-11am is an introduction to apprenticeships and career pathways at CHS. At 11am-12pm we will be joined by former apprentice Lukasz Grotowski alongside his manager, Louise Rawat, who will share more on their journey. The session will be followed by a live Q&A session, where participants will have the opportunity to answer all your questions.
