If you book your appointments with one of our continuity of care teams, we’ll make sure you’re cared for by the same small team of midwives. From your initial appointment all the way through to the day you give birth, we’ll provide you with comfort and familiarity when you need it most.
We know that when women have continuity of care throughout their pregnancy, particularly those with more complex health needs, they receive safer and more personalised care and build a relationship of mutual trust and respect with their midwives.
This has been proven to lead to better health outcomes for both mum and baby, reducing pre-term births, hospital admissions and the need for intervention during labour, as well as improving the experiences of both pregnancy and birth for women/birthing people
Midwife Helen has been supporting women through their pregnancies for over two years and now leads on our Continuity of Carer work. Here’s why she joined our Croydon family:
“You never forget the first baby you deliver. As a student, I was part of a home birth team when I got the call that one of our expectant mums was in labour. I’d already met her at an antenatal clinic during her pregnancy and when I arrived at her home we had a real connection.

"I realised how important it is that we’re there for women all the way through their maternity journey. That familiarity, in such an important time in someone’s life, creates a real bond between midwife and mum and it was a privilege to be there to support her.
"In Croydon, we’re part of a diverse borough and our mums range in age, ethnicity and health conditions. It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to support all of our new parents to have a happy and healthy pregnancy, giving them the reassurance they need, when they need it.
"I’m often asked how many babies I’ve delivered and honestly, I couldn’t count the number. It must be in the 100’s by now, but what’s most important to me is the care we’re giving to each individual woman - from her first appointment through to the time she takes her baby home.
"Being a midwife is much more than just a job, but when I hear the positive feedback from our new mums it makes those early mornings and late nights worthwhile.”
