Every day, colleagues across the Trust go above and beyond to support our patients, each other, and our partners — often without fanfare or recognition. The Croydon Stars Awards are our chance to change that.
These annual awards celebrate the incredible work that takes place across our services and recognise the people who make a real difference — whether it’s through outstanding patient care, behind-the-scenes support, or driving innovation and improvement.
Last year’s Star Behind the Scene Award winner, Ewa Kwiek-Buchacz , shared her experience of being recognised:
“Hello, my name is Ewa Kwiek- Buchacz , and I’ve been working at Croydon for the past 12 years. As an Operational Delivery Assistant in the Emergency Department I was honoured to be nominated in the Star Behind the Scene category.
“When I found out I had been named a winner, I was genuinely surprised and deeply touched. It’s not often that work behind the scenes gets noticed, so to be recognised in this way was incredibly meaningful.
“Winning this award has had a real impact on me—both personally and professionally. It reminded me that dedication, consistency, and care do not go unnoticed, even if they happen quietly in the background. It’s strengthened my confidence and inspired me to continue giving my best every day.
"If I could sum up my experience as a Croydon Star in one sentence, I’d say: “It’s a journey of growth, resilience, and being part of something bigger than yourself.”

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 20 June . You can nominate any Trust member of staff, including doctors, nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, radiographers or any other member of our clinical teams. Nominate now!
You can also shine a light on members of non-clinical teams, from porters and domestics through to administration staff who may have supported you and any other member of staff that left a positive impact on your CHS experience .
Last year we received near 80 nominations for our 'Star of the Year' award and well over 600 nominations for all awards categories in total, and this year we are hoping for even more!
