50,000 and counting...

If there is something we love at Croydon Health Services, it’s celebrating a milestone, and this week we did just that by administering our 50,000th COVID-19 vaccine here at the Trust.

The world’s largest vaccination programme started, in the UK in December, with one of our very own hospital volunteers, George Dyer, being front and centre to receive the first jab in London at our dedicated vaccination hub. Fast forward nine months, and Ahmed, one of our Urology Registrar’s has received the 50,000th dose given out by our vaccine team since opening last year.

Ahmed, who was at the vaccine hub to receive his booster jab, decided to get to the top up to keep himself, his colleagues and family and others in his community protected from COVID-19. He understands that there are some who remain hesitant to get the vaccine, but assured people that stated:

“It’s okay, I never had any side effects/symptoms for the first two vaccinations, so people should be fine”

Our vaccination hub at Shirley House, on site at Croydon University Hospital, is open for walk-in appointments Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm.

Those who have had both jabs, with the first being six months ago or more, will receive an invitation from the NHS to get their booster jab.
