Community Paediatrics

The Community Paediatric department are a team of doctors who offer community-based services to children, young people and their families in Croydon, especially for those with developmental and learning problems.

We aim to assess, diagnose and support children with development disorders such as developmental delay, autism spectrum conditions, Enuresis, and muscular dystrophy. children with special needs and complex neuro developmental disorders including cerebral palsy, learning difficulties and behaviour problems.. We can advise the child’s parents/ carers on useful resources and other sources of support. We can contribute towards Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs).

We also have expertise in safeguarding, child protection and looked after children (LAC). .

We hold clinics at the Crystal Development Centre, Malling Cl, Croydon CR0 7YD, Leander Road Health Centre, 939 London Rd, Thornton Heath CR7 6JE, Parkway Health Centre in New Addington and other local specialist school across the borough. We aim to see referrals within 6 weeks, though much quicker if there are any child protection concerns.

We have visiting specialists that come to assist the service to help provide the service to our local community.

We work closely with others in the community  including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, as well as health visitors, school nurses, psychology and psychiatry. We work in partnership with schools, social services, housing and the voluntary sector.
