Thousands of donations flood in for staff working at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust

From donations of coffee and biscuits through to deliveries of hot meals and hand cream, Croydon communities have rallied together to show their support for NHS staff as they continue to respond to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Members of the public and local businesses have been donating items all week with larger companies including Costa and Coca-Cola also doing their bit to help.
Sarah Milne, a secondary school teacher from Croydon has coordinated 40 hot meals to support doctors, nurses and all the staff working tirelessly to help patients.
Sarah said:
“Croydon's amazing critical care team have saved my life three times this year and now I want to do something to support these amazing people who will be keeping us safe and well through this crisis.
“We want to be able to send them nourishing food to help keep them going through long shifts and to take home after work when they are too exhausted to brave the shops.
“The wonderful team at The Oval Tavern will be cooking meals with volunteers delivering them, if we raise enough money we will be able to do this everyday. We have also sent pampering gifts like hand cream and chocolate.”
Matthew Kershaw, Chief Executive and Place-Based Leader for Health said:
"We’ve been overwhelmed by the support from the people of Croydon and we’d like to say thank you to everyone who has delivered treats for our teams.
“Our staff are working incredibly hard and in unprecedented circumstances. From our doctors and nurses to our radiographers and therapists, right through to our estates and IT teams, every area of the Trust is working around the clock, playing their part to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.
“These donations are helping to keep teams well fed, energised and ready to respond to the challenges that COVID-19 brings.”
