Keep cool during the heat

A yellow health alert has been issued by UKHSA and the Met Office for London. It is expected to be in place from 12pm on 18 June until 6pm on 22 June.

To help keep your loved ones safe, keep in contact with older or vulnerable family and neighbours. Older people, people with long-term conditions and young children may need help keeping cool.

Beat the heat by keeping cool, drinking lots of water and wearing sun cream to protect against high UV rays. It’s best to stay out of direct sun between 11am and 3pm.

Hot weather can make asthma worse. Staying well in hot weather can mean fewer asthma attacks or flare-ups for your lung condition. Read more about hot weather and lung health.

If you need medical help or advice your local pharmacy can help with a range or minor health conditions. If you need urgent help please go to 111.nhs.uk, and in a life-threatening emergency call 999.
