About us

A specialist community children’s hearing service treating hearing loss and/or balance disorders

Service overview

  • Testing of hearing of children from age 7 months of age to 18 years of age, using a variety of age and developmentally appropriate tests
  • Dedicated sound proof test rooms using the most up to date testing equipment and hearing aids available
  • Fitting and regularly monitoring children with a confirmed hearing loss and those wearing hearing aids, from birth until 18 years of age.
  • Investigation into the cause of permanent hearing loss
  • Close links with local specialist education service for children with hearing impairment
  • Work closely and run joint clinics with consultant paediatric ENT surgeons
  • Specialist paediatric audiologists (Audiology)
  • Specialist audiovestibular physician looking into the cause of hearing, balance and tinnitus problems.
  • We treat hearing loss both temporary and permanent in children, fitting hearing aids and monitoring permanent and temporary problems. 
  • We also rule out hearing loss in children with additional needs, e.g. speech and language delay, autism, complex needs, Down’s syndrome
