*CORONAVIRUS* Changes to our services - updated 18 March 2020

NEW Covid-19 (Corona Virus) Maternity Helpline: 07976681775

Due to constantly updating government and expert advice relating to Covid-19 and pregnancy, Croydon Maternity Services have launched a helpline for women who are booked for care with CHS.

This helpline is aimed at pregnant women who may be symptomatic for the virus and are unsure what steps to take or who have urgent questions relating to Covid-19 and their pregnancy.

The helpline will be staffed between 0800 and 1800 daily.

If you have symptoms of Covid-19 (new, dry cough, temperature over 37.8 C) current advice is to self-isolate at home, and not to attend routine appointments at this time.

If you are symptomatic and need to come in to the unit (either to attend triage or in labour), please call labour ward/triage on 0208 401 3853/3180. This will allow staff to prepare for your arrival.

Early Pregnancy Unit

Due to the current situation with Covid-19 we request that you do not attend the EPU. If you have an urgent medical situation (including heaving ongoing bleeding or severe pain) please attend the emergency department.

If your concern is not an emergency, but requires medical support please call our triage team on 020 8401 3310 between the hours of 08.00-09.00 where your history will be taken and the appropriate advice/plan made. After telephone triage, we may ask you to attend the hospital for investigation.

Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)

Due to the current situation with Covid-19 we request that you do not attend PALS without pre-arranging first. You can do this on 020 8401 3210 or ch-tr.pals@nhs.net. If the PALS staff are unavailable when you call, they will return your call within one working day. Thank you for helping us to keep our patients, visitors and staff safe.

Chaplaincy and Spirital Care Team

As the team is unable to conduct public acts of worship in the St Barnabas Worship Centre, they are setting up a Prayer board in the Centre for people to come along and write on post-it notes any open prayers that they would like to put up. It is at Croydon University Hospital, and is open to people of all faiths and beliefs from 8am to 8pm seven days a week. For patients who would normally go to chapel for Communion, we will be bring to them on the ward along with other patients and staff.

Our Current CQC Rating

CQC summary Following the latest inspection the CQC the Trust remains at “requires improvement.”

The CQC most recently inspected our medical care and community services in July 2018 and has given both overall ratings of “requires improvement”. All our services were rated as “good” on caring and both medical care and community health services for adults were also judged “good” on being effective.

When combined with the previous inspection last year, the latest report also means seven out of the nine of the core services inspected at Croydon University Hospital are now rated as “good”.
