Croydon offers a free, comprehensive and confidential sexual health service with a specialist HIV clinic.  

The Trust has two centres offering open access walk-in clinics and appointments.  Opening times can be found on the Trust website here.

GPs can refer patients for psychosexual counselling or domiciliary contraception services (under 25 years only).

Walk-in centres

The Croydon Sexual Health Centre

The centre is located at Croydon University Hospital and offers walk-in and appointment services.

Contraception and Sexual Health (CASH)

The service operates a walk-in and wait service providing contraception advice and supplies as well as sexual health advice.  These clinics are in the heart of Croydon at the Edridge Road Community Health Centre.

HIV services (Heath Clinic)

The HIV team manages around 700 HIV positive patients including the facility for inpatient care and also offer point-of-care HIV testing with results in 15 minutes.

Patients can request appointments slots for all the centres. 

 


Outreach team

The Teenage Pregnancy and Young People’s Sexual Health Outreach Team supports young people to stay healthy and safe when they are ready to become sexually active.  The aim is to contribute to a reduction in teenage pregnancy in Croydon, and see improved sexual health in our young people.  

The team:

  • Deliver targeted sex and relationship education (SRE) in a range of schools and non-school settings
  • Run sexual health clinics in targeted settings across the borough, including colleges
  • Support professionals in their delivery of sex and relationship education in schools and youth settings
  • Provide guidance and advice to professionals who support groups of teenage parents and teenage parents-to-be
  • Campaign to reduce teenage pregnancy and improve sexual health in young people

 


Referral criteria

Referrals can be made to the Contraception and Sexual Health (CASH) centre for:

  • Psychosexual counselling – excludes those with longstanding personality problems, or where the relationship is the primary issue
  • The domiciliary contraception service is only available to Croydon residents aged 25 years and under. Others should be signposted to an appropriate walk-in service
  • Previously failed IUD/IUS insertion or removal, and deep subdermal implants
  • Natural family planning

  • Psychosexual counselling
  • Domiciliary contraception service
  • IUD/IUS insertion or removal, and deep subdermal implants (with any scan results)
