Ajay Boodhoo

Lead Neurology Specialist Nurse

Ajay’s career is characterised by a roll-call of inspiring nurses who pushed him to be the best. His aunt, a mental health nurse, encouraged him to become a hospital volunteer and whilst on placement another nurse recognised his talent and helped him to take his first steps towards becoming the nurse he is today.

“I joined the Trust as a volunteer in 1995 and over the years my training has taken me from healthcare assistant to nurse, to matron and now to a specialist neurology nurse. At every step I’ve been encouraged, coaxed and inspired by some amazing colleagues who’ve been the role models every nurse needs. When I started out I learned from others, but the Trust has turned me into a nursing leader of the future."
Ajay is a Croydon Nurse

There are lots of opportunities for experienced nurses at the Trust, whether this is in our hospitals or in our community services.

If you want to develop your career in nursing then the Trust has the challenge you’re looking for. We have roles for experienced acute nurses, specialist nurses, advanced practitioners and community based nursing including health visiting and district nursing.

The Trust has over 80 specialist nurses, who work closely with medical teams but have a high degree of independence in how they manage their caseload and working lives.

We are always looking for our next generation of nurse leaders and often have great opportunties for band five and six charge nurses and sisters. We provide career clinics for our staff meeting with senior education and development nurses and discussing your training and career pathway opportunities.

If you are an experienced nurse or have specialist nursing skills but can't see the job for you on our website then get in touch. We value experience and our senior nursing team would be happy to talk to you, review your CV and discuss opportunities with us.

We are currently looking for a: Senior Critical Care Outreach Practitioner

Could you be a Croydon Nurse in our Critical Care outreach team?

Our critical care outreach nurses perform a crucial role in the hospital, supporting sick patients who have recently left our intensive care unit, and responding to those at risk of being admitted to it.

Working across all areas of the Trust, team members use their advanced critical care nursing skills to respond when needed. If a patient is at risk of deterioration, the team are on-hand to provide their advanced nursing skills and ensure that they get the best care we can offer.

This is not a run-of-the-mill nursing job. It needs nurses with the ability to make independent clinical decisions at crucial moments and draw on all of their knowledge and experience as a critical care nurse, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our nurses provide assessment, observation and treatment for deteriorating patients and also support and train colleagues across the Trust to help them develop their own skills in this field.

The role would suit nurses who currently work in either intensive or critical care settings or accident and emergency departments, who are looking for a new challenge and a change of pace in their working lives. In return, we offer an impressive support and education package as well as all of the advantages you’d expect from working in a friendly, forward-looking London Trust.
