Our team of 35 therapists are allocated to all adult wards and outpatient services and three therapists rotate in the community.

We assist with making safe hospital discharge arrangements.

We are the only service in Croydon providing hand therapy.

We have recently introduced a ‘rapid response’ service and work closely with community based colleagues.

The Occupational Therapy Departmentat Croydon Univeristy Hospital is located on the ground floor of the Woodcroft Wing (yellow zone) with a sub unit in the Coastal Rehabilitation Unit on the first floor of the Woodcroft Wing. Occupational Therapists are also based in the Stroke Unit in the Jubilee Wing.

Appointments

How to make an appointment if I am an inpatient?

For patients on the wards there is an informal appointment system for the Occupational Therapy staff to see them, usually making a verbal arrangement with the patient or patient’s relative to see them at a convenient time fitting in with other treatments the patient may be having.

How to make an appointment if I am an outpatient?

For outpatients attending the Occupational Therapy Department there is a written appointment system.

Patents are either given or posted an appointment card at the time the appointment is made.

Patients wishing to change or enquire about their appointments should phone reception on 020 8401 3121.

When attending the outpatient service, patients are asked to bring any splints they may already have for review. Patients are requested to attend at the time stated on their appointment card. Whenever possible we try to see patients who may call in without an appointment or who wish for an appointment at a particular time but this depends on staff availability.
