Neuropsychology services

The community-based Neuropsychology Service provides therapy and rehabilitation for patients with neurological disorders as well as support for their families and carers. This includes:

  • Specialist assessment of strengths and impairments in cognitive functioning that arise following acquired neurological disorders.
  • Treatment for problems affecting memory, perception, concentration and other aspects of intellectual functioning.
  • Psychological therapies to help emotional adjustment to neurological disorders.
  • Teaching and consultation to fellow health professionals or colleagues in the statuary and voluntary sectors on psychological issues related to acquired neurological disorders.
  • Educational groups for patients, family or carers, focusing on understanding brain injury, memory and problem solving strategies and managing mood.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Glasses and hearing aids if required.

Patients are also welcome to bring a family member, friend or carer to accompany them to the appointment.

You will be asked to complete some questionnaires giving important information about your condition. They will accompany your appointment letter. Please bring them along with you to your appointment.

What time should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive on time for the appointment as stated in the appointment letter.
