Children's Medical Services

Children's Medical Services are a team of doctors who offer community-based services to children, young people and their families in Croydon, especially for those with developmental and learning problems.

Children are seen in various settings including  at home, in Child Development Centres, community health centres, schools, Children’s Centres and at hospital. We aim to see referrals within 6 weeks, though much quicker if there are any child protection concerns.

We work closely with others in the community  including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, as well as health visitors, school nurses, psychology and psychiatry. We work in partnership with schools, social services, housing and the voluntary sector.

We assess and manage children with special needs and complex neuro developmental disorders including cerebral palsy, developmental delay, autism, epilepsy, ADHD, learning difficulties and behaviour problems.

We have expertise in assessing children for educational purposes and safeguarding children, including child protection and liaison with adoption and fostering services.

Our team offers immunisation advice to professional carers, nurses and special immunisation clinics.
