Tongue-tie can cause breastfeeding difficulties for some mothers

If you think your baby may have a tongue-tie and you are experiencing some problems with breastfeeding (sore nipples, baby coming on and off for example) please visit any baby café. Alternatively you can visit the breastfeeding clinic at Croydon University Hospital.  The infant feeding team at the hospital offers a tongue-tie division service for Croydon babies up to the age of 8 weeks.

Who supports you at the Baby Cafes?

Breastfeeding support at Baby Cafes is provided by a mixture of health professionals, lactation consultants (health professionals or breastfeeding counsellors who have completed advanced training in breastfeeding support), breastfeeding counsellors and peer supporters (mums who have breastfed themselves who have trained to help other mums).

Baby Cafés are licensed by the Baby Café Charitable Trust.  They aim to provide skilled breastfeeding support in a relaxed café-style environment. NHS Baby Cafés have a selection of resources they are able to loan families on a short term basis.

For information and/or breastfeeding support contact the Croydon Breastfeeding Support Team on 020 8714 2985
