Dr Malcolm Prentice trained at King's College Hospital and has a BSc in Pharmacology from King's College, London. He is an Honorary Consultant Physician at St Georges Hospital where he is licensed for radioiodine therapy of goitre and thyrotoxicosis. He was one of the first in the UK to set up a one-stop thyroid nodule clinic with ultrasound and biopsy in 1990. He is the co-author of the National Guidelines for the Management of Differentiated Thyroid Cancer, first and second edition and an external reviewer of the third edition in 2014.

Dr Prentice is a former secretary and committee member of The British Thyroid Association. He initiated and is director of the National Training Course for Thyroid Ultrasound and Biopsy jointly with the support of the Royal College of Radiologists, which he has run since 2005. This course is now recognized internationally.
He is a former chairman of the Division of Medicine, member of the advisory group to the medical director and Policy Advisory Group for the Trust.

He is a member of the Faculty of the South Thames Specialist Registrar Training Committee, and has been appointed honorary clinical teacher at two London teaching hospitals.

He has supervised many junior trainees from SPR to F1 over the years. He is still a regular teacher and trainer in endocrinology and diabetes and has been an examiner for MRCP PACES clinical exams and MB finals for many years. He has also interviewed for medical school entry at St Georges Medical School.
Dr Prentice is a regular speaker at primary care meetings for general practitioners, trainees and patient groups for endocrinology and diabetes.
