Maxillofacial surgery

 

Maxillofacial surgery works closely with restorative dentistry and orthodontic departments to provide joint clinics and to deliver specialist dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.

The service also advises people who have been referred for problems affecting the teeth, gums, mouth, jaws, face and neck. 

The service offer day surgery for:

  • Minor oral surgery under local or general anaesthetic
  • Surgical removal of teeth
  • Biopsies of small lesions in the mouth
  • Surgical dermatology for face and neck cancers (excluding melanomas)

Outpatient’s clinics for:

  • Head and neck cancers
  • Facial traumas, both skin lesions and bone fractures
  • Facial deformity
  • Reconstructive surgery of the mouth and jaw

Any treatment that requires In-patient care is provided by St George’s Hospital.
