Natalie Tate - vocational development in action

In 2002 Natalie left school at 16 without completing her GCSE’s. She went from one job to another and finally began work as a domestic at Purley Hospital.

Natalie’s cheerful disposition made her popular with patients and staff alike and the senior nurse spotted her potential and recommended she become a Healthcare Assistant.

After 6 months, Natalie was encouraged to apply for the cadet scheme and was offered the opportunity to complete an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care.

This course meant she could attend nurse training at Kingston University and was also given the opportunity to improve her literacy, numeracy and study skills to provide an all rounded approach to her development.

Once she completed this programme she was seconded by the Trust for the 3 years to complete a Diploma in Adult Nursing at Kngston University.

In February 2009 Natalie successfully completed her nurse training and became a Staff Nurse in the Medical AssessmentUnit (MAU). She is now gaining  experience as an Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU)Nurse .
