Health visitors

The health visitors service is a team of specialist community public health nurses who provide expert advice, support and interventions to families with children from antenatal period to four and a half years old.

At the birth of a child all families are allocated a health visitor and a record book, known as the ‘Red Book’, containing health information about the universal immunisation programmes and a guide through key developmental milestones.

The service is central to delivering good health outcomes for children in Croydon by working closely with GPs, children’s centres, midwives and nurseries.

Parents and carers are invited to contact their local team, to drop in at local clinics or appointed times for specific developmental checks, or specialist clinics.
