Improving Patient Experience Committee

This committee has been established to ensure our patients and carers have a clear route to influence the Trust's decision-making process  and support our plans to continuously improve patient experiences.

The committee, which is chaired jointly by the Director of Nursing and the Director of Operations, meets at least six times a year.

The Committee recently changed its name from Patient Issues Committee to Improving Patient Experience Committee. This reason for the name change was to achieve greater clarity and understanding of the purpose of the Committee. The terms of reference have been amended to reflect this change. The first meeting of the Improving Patient experience committee was 30 August, 2013.

The full terms of reference can be read here>>

The committee will:

  • Collate and consider information on all aspects of the patient experience.
  • Ensure that initiatives are in place to remedy identified shortcomings and that these are monitored.
  • To make a real difference by engaging positively and proactively with our staff and external stakeholders including our commissioners, local service users, Patient Assembly, Shadow HealthWatch and other patient groups.
  • To ensure that we develop a culture of patient/user participation on our improvement projects and groups so that their voices can be heard and that their views make a difference to the work that we do.
  • To ensure that the trust continues to fulfil any requirements as determined by the Care Quality Commission and other regulators.
