Service overview

The endocrinology department hold adult clinics in the main outpatient department of Croydon University Hospital and there is a quarterly joint paediatric endocrine clinic in the Willows paediatric outpatient department on Tuesday afternoons. 

Clinics also take place at Purley War Memorial Hospital.

 

We treat

The service diagnoses and treats patients with all endocrine conditions. These include:

  • Thyroid diseases, including under active or over active
  • Thyroid glands 
  • Thyroid cancer
  • Adrenal conditions
  • Polycystic and other hormonal fertility problems
  • Hormonal weight problems

The service has a specialist one-stop clinic for thyroid nodules and goitre which offers assessment, ultrasound and biopsy in a single clinic visit and three general endocrine clinics.

There is a weekly clinic for pregnant mothers with endocrine conditions who will need to be followed throughout their pregnancy by a specialist endocrinologist as well as an obstetrician.

The department have close links with specialist thyroid surgeons, parathyroid surgeons for calcium conditions and pituitary surgeons as well as shared care with the follow up of thyroid cancers with the Royal Marsden Hospital. The team includes two consultants, two specialist registrars, one staff grade and a
team of investigation nurses.
