The Dermatology Team at Croydon University Hospital provides a comprehensive service for adults and children with dermatological conditions affecting the skin.

Service overview

The Dermatology Department has its own dedicated clinical area and is situated on the second floor of the Yellow zone, Woodcroft wing. The teams treat a full range of general dermatology conditions affecting the skin, hair and nails in adults and children. This includes all skin rashes, lesions and malignancies.

The team comprises of a number of full time consultant dermatologists, a full time specialty doctor, a team of clinical assistants together with a group of experienced specialist dermatology nurses and administrative staff. 

 

We treat

Facilities include consulting rooms, day treatment facilities, two surgical theatres a Mohs lab (skin cancer surgery) and a phototherapy unit (PUVA and TL-01).

  • Phototherapy
  • Skin patch testing
  • Skin surgery
  • Mohs micrographic surgery
  • Combined skin cancer clinic with maxillofacial surgeons
  • Skin cancer multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Paediatric dermatology clinic
  • Photo monitoring clinic
  • Iontophoresis service
  • Nurse-led teaching clinics

The service works closely with the maxillofacial department and plastic surgeons at St George’s Hospital.

Skin cancer MDT meetings are held fortnightly and the service is supported by a skin cancer specialist nurse.

The service has close links with the St John’s Institute of Dermatology, based at Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust.  The Institute is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for the treatment, research and teaching of skin disease.  Complex cases are referred for specialist second opinions.
