Maternity award for Paulina Sowek and her work for deaf parents
16 February 2018

Our midwife Paulina Ewa Spowek won the Midwife Achievement Award this week at the London Midwifery Forum Awards.

As well as being a great midwife generally, Paulina is founder of Deaf Nest - a project that improves deaf users’ personal experience, equality of access, choice and control over maternity care. She is also raising £2,000 for some of that work:

You can hear her talk in this very nice online newspaper article about our maternity care. The article is mainly about our brilliant other award-winner from last week, Memuna Sowe, but Paulina has now done her own newspaper interview and will be covered fully soon!

Our maternity team hopes to make it a hat-trick on 6 March, as our Crocus homebirth team are shortlisted for the Royal College of Midwives annual awards in the ‘Team Of The Year’ category.

We have an inspiring maternity team who, in the CQC Maternity Survey, had improved in 28 out of 31 questions in 2017 compared to 2013. They are all pleased that their hard work and passion is being recognised publicly.
