Contraception and Sexual Health Service (CASH)  is a walk-in service  providing contraception and asymptomatic STI screens.

Service overview

The service operates a walk-in and wait service providing contraception advice and supplies as well as asymptomatic STI screening. There are also specialist clinics available on an appointment basis.

  • Oral contraception – combined oral pill and progestogen  only pill
  • Contraceptive Patch/ contraceptive ring
  • Sub dermal Implant – insertion and removal
  • IUD / IUS (coil) – insertion and removal
  • Injectable methods of contraception
  • Diaphragms and Condoms

Other services include –

  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing on asymptomatic patients
  • HIV / syphilis blood test
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Abortion advice/referral
  • Natural family planning – by referral only
  • Domiciliary service for young people and those who have difficulty in accessing the clinics 
  • Contraception for HIV positive patients


Referral criteria

This is a walk-in service and patients can self-refer however a referral is recommended for the following

  • Complex contraception
  • IUD/IUS fitting
  • ID/IUS removals with lost threads
  • Implant removals
  • Natural family planning
