Elderly Care Treatments provided
Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders
This is an outpatient service based in the Howell Rehabilitation and Assessment Unit (HARU) in the Woodcroft wing of the main hospital.
There are clinics every Monday and Wednesday.
The aim is to diagnose, inform and manage Parkinson’s disease. It is supported by the therapies staff (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy) who are based in Howell Rehabilitation and Assessment Unit.
In keeping with NICE and other good practice guidelines, all patients with Parkinson’s disease are offered regular follow-up appointments.
We have recently started a telephone advice service for patients, carers and GPs to provide support in between clinic appointments. To use this service call Dr Mehta’s secretary Sally on 020 8401 3616.
There is a Parkinson Disease Liaison worker in clinic to inform and advise patients on their condition and support is also available in the community.
