Elderly Care

The Elderly Care service provides a dedicated service from consultant physicians specialising in the care of older people supported by nursing and therapy staff to provide holistic inpatient care for patients over the age of 80. 

We also provide an advisory service for patients over 65 years under care of other medical teams in the hospital.

We offer outpatient service for patients with general medical problems over the age of 65 years in Croydon University Hospital. Services will return to Purley Hospital when refurbishment is complete in the summer of 2013 .

Additional subspecialty expertise in:

  • Stroke
  • Falls
  • Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders
  • Orthogeriatrics (patients over the age of 60yrs admitted with a hip fracture)
  • Intermediate care
  • Rehabilitation (both inpatient and outpatient service)
  • One-stop service providing medical input and therapy input provided in Howell Rehabilitation and Assessment Unit

 We provide services in the following wards and clinics

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring your current medication including any medicines bought over-the-counter. 

What time should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the appointment time to allow time for the nurses to weigh you and check your blood pressure.
