Ear Nose and Throat - ENT

The Ear, Nose and Throat surgery (ENT) department at Croydon University Hospital is part of the St Georges network. We have four jointly appointed consultants with the support of an associate specialist and several specialist registrars and the audiology department. 

Our consultants cover all aspects of ENT with the option of referral to tertiary clinics within the St Georges team if needed.

Clinics operate in main outpatients at Croydon and Purley hospitals. 

Operations are done in the Day Surgery Unit at Croydon University Hospital with inpatient and emergency cover provided at St Georges.

The team provides a range of services including:

Head and Neck Surgery - diagnostic and treatment for benign and malignant neck lumps, swallowing difficulties etc.

Laser surgery for benign and malignant Head and Neck conditions.

Ontology and NeuroOtology clinics for adults and children, diagnosis and treatment of all ear conditions including deafness, dizziness, tinnitus, ear infections, cholesteatoma and deformity of the ears.

Implantable hearing aids available in special circumstances at St Georges.

Rhinology, Snoring and Voice problems - clinics for adults and children. Diagnosis and treatment for sinusitis, rhinitis, nasal polyps, nasal obstruction and facial pain. 

Diagnosis and treatment for snoring and sleep apnoea in conjunction with the sleep clinic at St Georges. 

Diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders including spasmodic Dysphonia with the assistance of neurology and speech therapy.

Ontology and Paediatrics - Diagnosis and treatment of all ear problems for children.

Hearing Centre

The Hearing Centre provides hearing aids, tinnitus therapy, hearing therapy and balance rehabilitation. In addition, specialist hearing tests can be arranged. The hearing centre also run the newborn hearing-screening programme.

Speech Therapy

ENT works closely with the Speech Therapy department to help our patients with voice and swallowing problems. The speech therapy department have also recently started offering the Lee Silverman Voice Training programme to help people suffering with Parkinsons Disease.

Arrive in good time to allow time for registration. Patients should be aware however that it is not always possible to keep to the allotted time and should bring something to read/ do while they are waiting.
