Cancer services - Breast and Symptomatic Breast

The Breast Unit sees around 2500 women each year, of which approximately 250 will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

The multidisciplinary team includes three breast surgeons, three breast radiologists, two histopathologists, three breast care nurses, three radiographers, a research nurse, clinical psychologist and all the administrative staff required to run an efficient and busy unit.

All women are offered an appointment within 14 days and most are seen in a one stop clinic where consultation, imaging and needle test results are available on the same day.

The Bradbeer Unit is dedicated to providing an efficient breast imaging service, which enables a one-stop service.

We have up to date digital mammography andhave a new open MRI scanner for both diagnosis and high risk family history screening.

Our multidisciplinary team provides a comprehensive breast service, which includes breast reconstructive and oncoplastic surgery. The unit’s plastic surgeon performs more complex breast reconstruction.

The unit also works closely with the Genetics service and provides a family history screening service.

Our experienced and dedicated breast care nurses run clinics providing lymphoedema
and prosthetic fitting services, alongside high quality support and information.

The Breast Unit has the support of a Research Nurse from the South West London Cancer Research Network, to support the running of and recruitment to clinical trials, where appropriate.
