Hospital Infant Feeding Team

The hospital supports the right of all parents to make informed choices about how to feed their baby. The Infant Feeding Midwives provide Parent Education classes for parents which give up-to-date information on baby feeding. Classes will need to be booked from after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Ask your midwife for more information or visit Preparing for birth and looking after your baby. 

Sharon Broad and Gwen Eadon are available at the Early Pregnancy Open Evening for a chat and Information on Breastfeeding. The Early Pregnancy Open Evening is on the first Wednesday of every month from 7.30pm – 9.00pm, entrance via Woodcroft Road, Antenatal Clinic entrance. You do not need to book, just turn up, your partner/birth supporter are welcome to attend with you.  

The Infant Feeding Midwives provide support with breastfeeding in the hospital. Support is requested by staff or parents on the wards, including the Birth Centre, Labour ward, Postnatal ward, Special Care Baby Unit, paediatric ward, A&E.

A weekly Breastfeeding drop-in clinic is available every Friday in the Parentcraft Room ( Antenatal Clinic), further details in ‘Breastfeeding Who Can Help?’ booklet, given to mums upon discharge from hospital. The Infant Feeding Team also run a weekly Tongue Tie Clinic, referrals should made through a health professional.
