Buffer Bear Nursery provides nursery places for staff. It cares for 65 children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years in a secure environment that encourages learning and development.

The Occupational Health Service is a confidential independent advisory service for all staff. Its promotes, maintains and improves the physical and mental wellbeing of all employees.

R - Respect@Work

We recognise the importance of offering support to employees who experience or witness harassment or bullying. Staff can speak to trained Respect@Work advisors in confidence to seek advice.

R - Restaurant/Cafe

The main restaurant and PGMC cafe are open to staff for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They offer  a wide selection of food and drink throughout the day including cooked breakfasts, deli baguettes, salad bar and traditional favourites.

S - Season ticket loans

All substantive staff with at least three months service are eligible for an

We are committed to the personal development of all our staff, and offer several training courses to advance their learning. Staff undertake statutory and mandatory training, and as part of the annual appraisal process, discuss and agree a personal development plan for the year.

Staff are supported if they wish to belong to an appropriate trade union or professional association. Membership is not a condition of service, but participation has always been encouraged.

V - Volunteers

Friends members aim to provide comfort for patients and staff.  The Friends run a regular trolley service, selling greeting cards and stationary. This means that patients and visitors get a chance to see a friendly face around the hospital. They always have time for a chat.

As we use vast amounts of technology, we offer free eye sight tests to staff who use computer screens.

Education, training and development of our staff are central to the Trust’s ability to provide high quality healthcare services. We believe it is important to support the continuing learning and development of all our employees.

Y - Y R U Smoking? Stop smoking service

We offer a specialised confidential service for staff to help them break free from smoking, which means more years of better health and wealth. The service offers discounted or free nicotinereplacement therapy and personalised one-one support to help smokers quit.

Staff can get some well earned sleep in our brand new accommodation for health workers. All the accommodation is available on short hold tenancy agreements.
