High quality care
We promise everyone, whether in hospital, in the community or at home, we will do our best to ensure you feel in safe hands with highly professional staff who work well together in clean clinics and hospitals and you feel confident in your treatment.
Here you will find many of the results of any of the reports and inspections carried out on our services by independent bodies that ensures we are delivering high quality care for the people of Croydon
The Trust is licensed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide services for the people of Croydon under the new regulating standards in the NHS.
There are no conditions attached to the license, but the Trust is not complacent and will ensure that the standards are maintained and improved in future years. These standards go right to the very heart of what local people want - high quality, safe and
compassionate care. They cover the issues patients expect such as treating
people with respect, involving them in decisions about their care and
cleanliness.
As a trust we are committed to doing all we can to meet those expectations.
How the Trust is doing
The Trust is currently rated “good” for both Quality of Services and Use of Resources in the Care Quality Commission (CQC) annual ratings.
An unannounced inspection by the CQC found no evidence that the Trust breached the Hygiene Code regulations, which protect patients, workers and others from the risks of acquiring a healthcare-associated infection.
Rates of MRSA and Clostridium difficile (C.diff) are low. Infection rates are monitored daily and reported to the Board every month. Current rates can be found on the infection control pages on this website.
Mortality rates remain consistently within expected ranges, but the Trust aims to reduce rates by 10% with the introduction of the Global Trigger Tool for patient safety and improved clinical coding and investigation.
In the National Sentinel Stroke Audit 2010 the Trust was rated among the top 50 hospitals in the country .
The national Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) inspection takes the views of patients, public and staff into account as they carry out their on-site visits. In the last inspection the Trust scored“good” in all three areas of food, cleanliness and privacy and dignity standards.
The Trust has achieved NHS Litigation Authority level one risk management standards for acute services and level two under the Clinical Negligence Scheme for maternity services.
The Trust’s performance in the national patient surveys has improved slightly year on year but when compared to other Trusts, the organisation does not perform as well as its peers. These surveys reflect users’ views and patient experience and this is an area that the Trust is addressing through its five promises to the people of Croydon.
