X-cellent news as new £1.1m X-ray suite opens at Croydon University Hospital

Following a £1.1m investment, the interventional radiology suite (also known as the interventional X-ray suite) at Croydon University Hospital has been fully refurbished. New high definition displays, separate men’s and women’s rooms and a bright and welcoming environment have transformed the unit, which uses detailed imaging to help perform delicate operations and medical procedures on patients.

A text message appointment reminder service is helping even more patients at the Trust

The number of patients who can benefit from an appointment text reminder at the Trust has now more than doubled.

Thousands of patients miss appointments across the NHS yearly, because they have forgotten when they are. Last year, 48 987 patients missed appointments at Croydon Health Services alone.

Trust in life-saving first as cardiac arrest technology rolled out across organisation

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is the first NHS Trust in England to roll out EZ-IO devices to every cardiac arrest trolley in the organisation. This represents one of the two major technological changes that the Trust has championed to improve care and save lives at Croydon University Hospital. The Trust is also now using mechanical CPR machines to deliver chest compressions to patients during resuscitation.

Stars from Fairfield Halls’ Christmas pantomime Snow White visited Croydon University Hospital yesterday to spread a little Christmas cheer. HIV Awareness Week

Staff at Croydon Health Services raised awareness about HIV testing this week as part of the celebrations for National HIV Testing Week (23-30 November) in the run up to World AIDS Day on 1 December. Croydon has among the highest rates of HIV in the UK, with an estimated one in every 170 people living with the virus, compared to one in every 300 in 2002.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust has been recognised as a leader in IT practice in healthcare in the UK by the international health information body HIMSS Europe.
