PIP breast implants
25 January 2012

We are aware that some patients are coming to see their GPs concerned about PIP breast implants. Please reassure your patients that Croydon Health Services NHS Trust (and previously Mayday) has never used these form of implants.

Those that had PIP breast implants fitted elsewhere and are concerned can access some useful information on the NHS choices website:

The latest advice from the NHS and plastic surgery experts is that women with PIP breast implants do not need to have them removed, unless they have symptoms such as pain and tenderness. There is no link to cancer and no clear evidence of an increased risk of harm compared to other brands of breast implants.
